Introducing WIPtober!

What is this?

WIPtober is a challenge devoted to making progress on any types of WIPs during the month of October. The goal is to write at least 3K words or 3 pieces of art/fanworks for the month from October 1-30. Throughout the month, you can post reports of your progress, snippets, or links to updated/finished fanworks. Tag all progress with the #wipweek or #wip week tags so they can be reblogged to the blog. On October 31, everyone can post their final masterpost of progress throughout the month to celebrate, with links to snippets and updated/finished fanworks.

What about the traditional WIP Week?

The traditional WIP Week will return in early 2020, most likely February.

What fandoms/ships can participate?

All fandoms and ships are welcome to participate. Even people working on original works can participate. Due to multiple fandoms participating, please tag any snippets and links to updated/finished works with the fandoms, ships, and any content warnings.

What if we can write more than 3K words or do more than 3 fanworks during the month?

That’s great! The 3K words or 3 fanworks is meant to be a goal, not a limit. If you can do more than that, feel free to do so.

What if we can’t make the goal?

That’s perfectly okay. This challenge is supposed to be stress-free and progress is progress, whether you meet the goal or not.

What if we’re participating in Inktober or another October challenge?

All progress is progress and any progress toward any other challenge counts towards WIPtober. If the WIP you’re working on is for a challenge that requires you not to post anything until the end, like a big bang, please follow the rules of that challenge.

What if we want to work on both fics and art/other fanworks during the month?

You can absolutely work on any type of fanwork during the month and you don’t have to choose.

What if we have more questions?

Feel free to reply to this post with your questions.

This WIP Week has officially ended. Thank you to everyone who participated, and congratulations to everyone who finished or made progress on a WIP! I will check the tags for the next week, so feel free to post any late entries for any of the days.

Though this week has traditionally been held every two months, I have made the decision to extend the time between weeks. The next WIP Week will be held June 23-29, 2019. A post with the themes and bonus questions for the next week will be posted sometime in April.

Thanks again for your support and participation in this week. WIP Week wouldn’t be possible without you, and I hope you consider participating in the next week.
